Luke Skaarup is the Director Operations for the northern region at Enbridge Gas Inc. In this role, Luke is accountable for the safe and reliable operation, maintenance, addition and abandonment of all operating assets in nearly 100 communities in the region, which spans 3,000 km from Oro-Medonte to the Manitoba border along highways 11 and 17 going north and west.
Luke leads a team of 200+ employees who help ehnahce the quality of people’s lives through an affordable and sustainable energy choice for their homes and businesses. He sees a future where all forms of energy must work together to meet a growing need for energy, sustainably. He believes that more energy infrastructure is needed which must be proven safe, reliable, and sustainable. Luke enjoys developing diverse talent and using his platform to build the next generation of leaders needed for a lower carbon future with integrated energy solutions. In his 18 year career with Enbridge, and the former Union Gas, Luke has held roles of increasing accountability in engineering and distribution operations. An experienced senior leader known for problem solving, results delivery, and the ability to break down and communicate complex and technical issues, Luke is skilled in leadership, asset management, integrity, safety, compliance, construction, leadership, corporate governance and engineering. He is passionate about developing people, energy transition, growth projects, asset management and integrity.
Luke has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lakehead University and is licenced as a Professional Engineer. He is currently completing a Masters Degree through Queens University for Earth and Energy Rerource Leadership.
Born and raised in the Township of O’Connor (Thunder Bay area), Luke currently resides in North Bay along with his wife Nicki, and their four children: Brayden, Gabrielle, Logan, and Charlotte. As a fitness enthusiast and a former professional strength athlete, you’ll catch Luke spending time with his kids, coaching youth football, or in the gym during his spare time.
